"The Benefit of the Doubt: Jesus and Your Uncertainty" Bible Reading Plan

Day 1 – “If It’s Really You”
Reading: Matthew 14:22–28
Focus Verse: Matthew 14:28
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
Insight:
Peter didn’t jump impulsively—he asked for clarity. His doubt was real, but so was his desire for Jesus. That’s how faith often begins—not with certainty, but with curiosity and trust.
Reflect:
Where are you wrestling with uncertainty right now? Could it be Jesus inviting you to step closer?
Day 2 – “Jesus Says, Come”
Reading: Matthew 14:29a; John 6:37
Focus Verse: Matthew 14:29a
“Come,” He said.
Insight:
Jesus doesn’t wait for perfect faith—He invites us with whatever faith we have. One word from Jesus was enough to lift Peter over the edge of the boat.
Reflect:
What invitation from Jesus are you hesitating to accept?
Day 3 – “Faith Walks on Water”
Reading: Matthew 14:29b; 2 Corinthians 5:7
Focus Verse: Matthew 14:29b
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.
Insight:
Peter did the impossible because his focus was on Jesus. That’s what faith does—it steps into the unknown, trusting in the One who calls.
Reflect:
What step of faith might Jesus be calling you to take next?
Day 4 – “When Fear Takes Over”
Reading: Matthew 14:30a; Psalm 56:3–4
Focus Verse: Matthew 14:30a
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid...
Insight:
Faith is fragile when fear becomes our focus. Peter started sinking not because the storm got worse, but because his eyes left Jesus.
Reflect:
What are you focusing on more than Jesus right now?
Day 5 – “Lord, Save Me!”
Reading: Matthew 14:30b–31a; Romans 10:13
Focus Verse: Matthew 14:30b
...“Lord, save me!”
Insight:
Doubt didn’t disqualify Peter—it activated his faith. In one short prayer, he called out to Jesus, and Jesus answered immediately.
Reflect:
What do you need to bring to Jesus today, even if it’s messy or raw?
Day 6 – “Immediately”
Reading: Matthew 14:31a; Isaiah 41:10
Focus Verse: Matthew 14:31a
Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him.
Insight:
Jesus doesn’t delay when we cry out. He’s quick to respond, ready to rescue, and never too far away.
Reflect:
Can you remember a time when Jesus caught you? How does that shape your trust in Him today?
Day 7 – “Why Did You Doubt?”
Reading: Matthew 14:31b; James 1:5–6
Focus Verse: Matthew 14:31b
“You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”
Insight:
Jesus’ question isn’t a rebuke—it’s an invitation to reflect. Our doubts don’t push Him away. They become moments where He meets us, teaches us, and helps us grow.
Reflect:
How can your doubts become a doorway to deeper trust in Jesus?
