"EASTER" - Week 9 Bible Reading Plan

7-Day Devotional — HE IS GREATER

John 11:17–27; 1 John 4:4

One-Line Truth: Whatever you’re facing, Jesus is already bigger.

DAY 1 — WHEN LIFE FEELS TOO BIG

“Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. John 11:21

There are moments in life that stop you in your tracks. News you didn’t expect. Pain you didn’t plan for. A future that suddenly feels uncertain. And the thought hits: “This is bigger than me.” That’s exactly where Martha is when Jesus arrives. She’s not calm. She’s not composed. She’s grieving. And yet—she still runs toward Jesus.

When you zoom in too far on a picture, all you see are pixels. Blurry. Distorted. Confusing. That’s what fear does. It zooms in so tightly on your problem that it becomes all you can see. But Jesus invites you to zoom out. What feels overwhelming to you is not overwhelming to Him.

Reflection: Where has your life felt “too big” lately?

Prayer: Jesus, I bring You the places that feel overwhelming. Help me see beyond what’s right in front of me. Amen.

DAY 2 — FROM SOMEDAY FAITH TO TODAY TRUST

Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” John 11:23–24

Martha believes. She just doesn’t believe for right now. “I know he will rise again… someday.” That’s where many of us live: “Someday things will get better.” “Someday I’ll have peace.” “Someday God will move.” But Jesus interrupts her timeline.  “I am the resurrection and the life.” Not later. Not eventually. Right now.

Someday Faith, Someday faith keeps hope alive…but it keeps power at a distance. Jesus doesn’t just promise future help—He offers present power. Jesus is not just working in your future—He is present in your now.

Reflection: Where have you been trusting God “eventually” instead of “today”?

Prayer: Jesus, move me from someday faith to present trust. Help me believe You are working right now. Amen.

DAY 3 — RESURRECTION IS A PERSON

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; John 11:25

Jesus doesn’t say, “I will bring resurrection.” He says:  “I am the resurrection.” That changes everything. Because resurrection is not just something He does… It’s who He is. Which means wherever Jesus is present, hope is present. life is possible. dead things don’t stay dead. A device doesn’t work unless it’s connected to power. It may look fine on the outside… but without a source, it’s lifeless. Jesus isn’t just offering help— He is the source. When Jesus is present, life is possible—even in dead places.

Reflection: Where do you need resurrection—not someday, but right now?

Prayer Jesus, remind me that You are not distant—you are present. Bring life where I feel empty. Amen.

DAY 4 — FEAR DISTORTS REALITY

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

Fear is loud. It exaggerates. It whispers worst-case scenarios. It convinces you things are worse than they really are. “You’ve gone too far.” “It’s too late.” “There’s no coming back.” But John reminds us:  “Greater is He who is in you…”

As a kid, shadows felt real. A chair became a monster. A coat became something terrifying. But the moment the light came on… The fear disappeared. Not because the object changed— but because the light revealed the truth. Fear magnifies the problem. Faith magnifies Christ.

Reflection: What fear has been speaking the loudest in your life?

Prayer: Jesus, turn on the light in the places I feel afraid. Help me see clearly again. Amen.

DAY 5 — JESUS DEFEATS WHAT FEELS FINAL

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25–26

There are moments that feel final. The relationship is over. The opportunity is gone. The dream is dead. It feels like a flatline. But Easter says something different: “It’s not over.” Not because the situation suddenly changed— but because Jesus stepped in. In movies, there’s always that moment where everything looks finished. The monitor flatlines. The room goes silent. Then suddenly—something changes. That’s Easter. What feels final to you is not final to Him.

Reflection: Where have you believed, “This is the end”?

Prayer: Jesus, step into the places I’ve declared finished. Remind me You are still writing the story. Amen.

DAY 6 — DO YOU BELIEVE THIS?

And whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this? ”John 11:26

Jesus doesn’t ask Martha for explanations. He asks:  “Do you believe this?” That’s the real question. Not: “Do you understand everything?” “Can you explain it all?” But: Do you trust Me?

Last week Mark spoke about walking across a bridge in the dark,  Imagine walking across a bridge in the dark. You can’t see the end. You don’t know how far it goes. But someone you trust says: “Walk with me.” Faith isn’t certainty. It’s trust. Faith is not having all the answers—it’s trusting the One who does.

Reflection: What step of trust is Jesus asking you to take?

Prayer: Jesus, I don’t need all the answers—I need You. Help me trust You with what I can’t see. Amen.

DAY 7 — THE STORY ISN’T OVER

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

Easter isn’t just about what happened. It’s about what is still true. The stone didn’t just move then—it still moves things now. Death didn’t just lose then—it still loses now. Jesus isn’t just alive then—He is alive right now. Have you ever thought something was the end…Only to realize later… it was just the middle? That’s Easter. Your story isn’t over—because Jesus isn’t finished.

Reflection: Where do you need to believe that God is still working?

Prayer: Jesus, help me trust that You are still writing my story. Even here. Even now. Amen.

Whatever you’re facing Fear. Grief. Regret. Uncertainty. Jesus is already bigger. The story isn’t over… because He is not finished.
